The Top Ten Soccer Players of 2010
10. Theofanis Gekas
T. Gekas is the Top scorer of the Bundesliga. He's the one (and was the one) keeping Frankfurt from falling down the table. HANDS DOWN!
9. Rafael Van der Vaart
Van der Vaart is one of the best players in the Premier League this season, and he's not only scoring but also preparing and making play. Tottenham Hotspurs need him.
8. Samir Nasri
Samir Nasri has to be No. 8 (and not only because he wears the shirt number 8). He's also been in top form at Arsenal and he scored more this season then in the last 2 seasons he's been there! He would have been higher on the list if he had played better in big games such as versus Chelsea. I'm a big Arsenal fan, so when I went to their game against Chelsea on the 27/12/10, I was psyched when they won 3-1; but I noticed Nasri didn't really play well, and he also didn't play well against Manchester United.
7. Diego Milito
Diego Milito won a lot with Inter Milan in 2010. Everyone says it was Mourinho, but I think at least a third of their wins came from Diego Milito. For example, in the final of the Champions League he scored one goal and got the assist for the other one. That is why he is number 7 in the list.
6. Arjen Robben
At No. 6 I have Arjen Robben: now remember, this is the year 2010, not the season 2010. In the season 2009/2010 Arjen Robben became champion with Bayern München. B. München became partly champion because of Arjen Robben. This year Bayern München is doing much worse because Arjen Robben is injured!
5. Dimitar Berbatov
5th place belongs to Berbatov, you all probably think because of his start in 2010 (of which he sat 3/4 on the bench he isn't good enough) because Sir Alex Ferguson thought he wasn't good enough. He proved him wrong when he started 2010/2011 in great form and then shot 5 goals against Blackburn in the first half of the season.
4. Andrés Iniesta
Andrés Iniesta is in every Top Ten list after he scored the winning goal against Holland in the 2010 World Cup; before that he was part of the greatest team in the world, but never really in the spotlight. Now though, he could win the Ballon D'or. For me he's gonna stay at 4th place.
3. Cristiano Ronaldo
Well you knew he was coming, but out of my perspective only at 3rd place. I know he's one of the best players in the world, but he strikes me as a show-off. I have proof too: I once bought a magazine and it had all the stats of the Champions League in it. It said Cristiano Ronaldo scored the most goals in the Champions League, but he also shot the most balls heading for goal. So there you have it, the reason he scores so much is because he tries so much. He doesn't care about other players - he is an egomaniac! No teamwork happening here...
2. Xavi
If you want to know why I put Xavi in 2nd place it's because he deserves a little credit for playing for Barcelona but not wanting the attention (so not like Cristiano Ronaldo). Xavi is (in my rating) the best midfielder Barcelona's had for years. He's got the best passes to Messi, Pedro and Villa.
1. Lionel Messi
You all knew this was coming. Lionel Messi is the best Player of 2010 in my rating. Above, you saw I thought Xavi was behind Messi's skill. But Messi also makes 1/2 of his goals without assistance. Plus when he gets an assist he always finishes it Ice-Cool.
Your,
Yor
